Leading a STM Medical Team

Early Pre-Trip Tasks

TeamReady
This first phase of planning begins as early as a year prior to the date of the expected trip and ends approximately when the team selection is completed (or nearly so). For trips to Asia or Africa there usually is a longer lead time than for shorter, closer trips. During this portion of trip planning, the leader has to think about the activities listed below, at a minimum. Some require finalization during this phase; some are in the early phase of planning and will be carried over into the next phase.

The major activities in this phase might involve discussions or time spent with a missions pastor or board, as some of these decisions, such as trip dates and ministry partners, are "high-level" and may possibly require coordination with other church mission activities.
